Epic Quest 2009

Travel to Rocky Mountain National Park for a backpacking adventure with the men of Christ Chapel.  We will depart from South Bend immediately following (about 1pm) Sunday morning service on August 2nd.  Arriving in Estes Park, Colorado and starting our hike in the afternoon of Monday, August 3rd.  The next five days will be filled with gorgeous views, challenging hikes, great camaraderie and spiritual refreshing.  We will also have the opportunity to climb (no ropes or technical climbing skills needed) Long's Peak.  This is one of the most recognizable peaks in the front range of the Rocky Mountains and is quite a challenge at over 14,000 feet high.  Friday will be the day we finish our trek and head home, arriving in the afternoon on Saturday.

To prepare for this trip we will be going through the book, 'Wild at Heart' by John Eldredge.  Here is an excerpt from the book, "There is something fierce, passionate, and wild in the heart of every man. That is how he bears the image of God. And the reason most men "live lives of quiet desperation" (Thoreau) is because men have been told that the reason God put them on earth is to be a good boy. To be nice. But every man longs for a battle to fight, an adventure to live, and a beauty to rescue."

The cost for the trip is dependant on the number of people who end up going:

2-3 people = $330/person

4-5 people = $280/person

6-7 people = $260/person

8-10 people = $250/person

11-13 people = $240/person

This cost includes:  Transportation to and from Rocky Mountain National Park, all park fees and permits, all food during the 5 days of hiking in the park, limited equipment rental.

This cost does NOT include:  Food during travel to and from Colorado, personal gear (hiking boots, clothing, toiletries, jacket, gloves...)

There is a limit of 13 people for this trip.  A non-refundable deposit of $50 will claim your ticket to the Rocky's.  50% must be paid by June 6th and the remaining balance before leaving on Sunday, August 2nd.
